Zhou Xiaozhong (Joe) has been a consultant to large firms in the UK, Hong Kong, and South Korea which have sought entry into or expansion in China, and is a businessman with broad knowledge of government, central and provincial, universities, and business in China.

Zhou currently serves as Chairman of BHV. He has regular discussions with senior people in the main organizations for real estate firms in China, and with the senior people in real estate firms across the provinces and cities of China.

Zhou also is the Chairman of University Central (UC), a venture incubation company dedicated to developing international K-12 schools in China. UC will be bringing private, K-12 education companies to China, mostly from the US; and then will be co-managing the schools in China.

Previously, Zhou has served effectively as an advisor and consultant to the Standard and Chartered Bank, the Samsung Life Insurance Company, and the New China Hong Kong Group. He represented the two former companies in China, and the latter company in the US. During the period 1997-2002, he was president of the Zheng Feng Business Group in Beijing, and for the period 1997-2007, he was the director for China of the Resort and Hotel Management group.

When Zhou was employed by MIT and Brandeis University, he developed programs on China at the Sloan School (MIT) and at the Heller School (Brandeis). He has done research on the economy of China at MIT, Brandeis, and at Beijing University. At MIT, he worked extensively with Professor Lester Thurow, when and after he was the dean of the Sloan School.

Zhou has his bachelor’s degree from Nanjing University, and his master’s in history from Brandeis University. His hobbies are writing poetry and playing tennis.
